JOINT BASE CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Reservists scheduled to report for training will have this weekend off.

Colonel James Fontanella, the 315th Airlift Wing commander, canceled the monthly drill weekend for all Air Force Reservists assigned to the unit because of the government shutdown.

The cancellation will affect more than 1,400 reservists.

Officials say the 315th Airlift Wing will still be participating in wartime taskings and activities that were granted exception under the Pay Our Military Act.

Local hotel business will feel a sting since nearly 450 local hotel rooms were canceled for a loss of more than $66,000 in revenue.

The drill weekend, previously scheduled for Oct. 5-6, had been rescheduled to Oct. 19-20 in hopes of an appropriations bill.

Officials with the 315th Airlift Wing said that even if a deal is reached on Wednesday, training will still be canceled.
