CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Fire crews responded to four fires in the past 24 hours in Pineville, North Charleston, and the Charleston peninsula.

The first fire roared through a home on Robertson Road in North Charleston Wednesday morning. According to a spokesperson with the North Charleston Fire Department, firefighters found smoke and flames that had made its way into the attic and through the roof.

No one was injured in the fire. One person was living in the home and is now getting help from friends and family.

Another fire forced a family of five, including three children, from their North Charleston home Wednesday afternoon. The Red Cross is assisting the family and reports the fire did heavy damage to the home on McKnight Drive.

It took nearly two hours to put out a fire in the Pineville community Wednesday night.

The fire chief working that scene on Speed Limit Lane in Berkeley County says the house is a total loss. Thankfully no one was home when the fire started.

Rutledge Avenue in downtown Charleston was closed between Grove and Cleveland streets until about 7 a.m. Thursday because of a house fire.

Dispatch said firefighters were called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. Fire officials said it only took eight minutes to get the fire under control and investigators have tracked the fire's origin to a second-floor utility room.

There is no word yet on what caused any of the four fires.
