Second man arraigned in fatal Orangeburg shooting

Posted: Updated:

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) -- A second man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting in September 2012 will be arraigned on Friday.

According to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, Rodsheen Ayer was arrested in New York by the US Marshals and a NY fugitive task force a year ago.

Since then, Ayer has been in a New York prison near the Canadian border on a probation violation. Orangeburg deputies fetched him this week.

Ravenell says investigators have learned Terrance Shawan Johnson and Ayer went to a Maedrine Street home with the intention of robbing the residents. Three victims were in the home at the time of the shooting, officials said.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Johnson pulled out a gun and began shooting at the victims. One victim was struck in the face; a second victim was struck in the back, and the third victim was not injured.

One of the shooting victims died as a result of his injuries, Ravenell said.

Ayer was injured in the Sept. 10 shooting, transported to a out-of-town hospital for treatment, and used a fake name when asked about his gunshot wound injury.
