Observatory opens Friday for public to see planets, moon

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The College of Charleston Observatory will be open Friday night for the public to try to spot Venus, Uranus, Neptune and the moon in the night sky.

Astronomers from the Department of Physics and Astronomy will be manning four eight-inch telescopes in the observatory dome.

The observatory will be open from 7:30 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Stargazers should enter the Rita Liddy Hollings Science Center on 58 Coming Street and check in with the Society of Physics Students host.

No open-toe shoes are permitted on the observing deck.
