Southern Ground Music and Food Festival comes to Charleston

Posted: Updated:

DANIEL ISLAND, W.C. (WCIV) -- The Third Annual Southern Ground Music and Food Festival kicked off this weekend at Blackbaud Stadium.

The two-day event features lots of food, live music from about two dozen performers and even a Ferris wheel.

The Zac Brown Band is headlining the festival. Other performers includes Jason Mraz, Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers and Band of Horses.

The festival also allows up-and-coming-artists to get their chance on stage, including the AJ Ghent Band, who was discovered by Zac Brown.

"We were doing a gig at Dixie Town in Atlanta. And we were in there jamming out to like five people, and he came in and basically, I haven't left his side since," said AJ Ghent. "It's been like glue."

The Zac Brown Band takes the stage at 8:45 p.m. Saturday and will perform on Sunday at 7:45 p.m.
