Oktoberfest 2013 Wraps Up Successful Year

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Oktoberfest 2013 was faced with rain for one night this year, but it did not stop the festival from having one of its best years, yet.

This year's festival saw huge attendance numbers, even with some controversial changes, such as the transition to German steins from the beer pitchers, used in the past.

"I like it a lot better, you know, it's something you can take home and keep and reuse, you know?," said one festival patron.

"We've seen people purchase [the steins] on their way out of the festival to take home, so, it's a good sign." Festival director, Tonja Carrigg said the steins may sell out Sunday afternoon - a testament to their popularity and the overall success of this year's festival.

Carrigg said Saturday's attendance may have broken a record and the team is already looking ahead to next year. "We'll look at how traffic flowed, how our patrons flowed, what resources can we bring to the festival, how can we improve. So, we dig right in on that," Carrigg said.

Oktoberfest wraps up for the year, Sunday at 6 p.m.
