North Charleston man claims $1 million prize

Posted: Updated:

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- It's been almost a month since a million dollar Powerball ticket was sold in Hampton, S.C. and now a winner has finally come forward.

According to South Carolina Lottery officials, a North Charleston man has been identified as the winner.

He told officials that his winning ticket was in a stack of other lottery tickets he meant to check but hadn't done so until about a week ago.

"I don't feel any different," the millionaire said to lottery officials. "I'm just me, and that's not going to change."

Powerball officials said the winner bought the $2 ticket from the Tiger Express on Elm. St. W. in Hampton.

"I've never won anything in my life," he said.

The Tiger Express received a commission of $10,000 for selling the claimed ticket.
