Plan for Beaufort's next 100 years delayed again

Posted: Updated:

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - There's been a delay in approving a master plan mapping out the future of Beaufort for the next century.

The Beaufort Gazette reports the Metropolitan Planning Commission delayed a vote on the plan Monday until after a work session involving several area groups.

Commission chairman Joe DeVito hopes that session involving the commission, the Redevelopment Commission, the Historic Beaufort Foundation and city staff could help work out issues remaining with the plan. The work session will be held either late this month or next month.

The newspaper reports the plan has been edited and reworked after dozens of meetings and public sessions.

It maps out property development, road and transportation changes, access to water, parks and other aspects of the city's development during the next 100 years.
