Denny's donates 50,000 eggs to Lowcountry Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Lowcountry got a huge donation to help combat childhood hunger on Tuesday, taking delivery of 50,000 eggs from Denny's and the American Egg Board.

The eggs were donated on behalf of each Denny's patron who purchased a Build Your Own Omelette between Sept. 9 and 15.

Through the end of the month, all Denny's locations in Charleston are selling coupons in support of No Kid Hungry's efforts to combat child hunger. It is estimated that 16 million children in the U.S. are struggling with hunger.

For a $3 donation that helps provide 30 meals for hungry children, guests receive $9 worth of Denny's coupons in return.
