MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- According to Mt. Pleasant police, officers are investigating reports of a body found in the Olde Village of Mt. Pleasant.

Officers were alerted to the body by fishermen in the area.

An officer on the scene said the area is blocked to foot and vehicle traffic.

Mount Pleasant police identified the body as only that of a white male. No further information was released in the find.

According to Larry Harrison, the man who found the body, he spotted something that looked like a trash bag in the water while he was riding his bike over the bridge. As he got closer, he saw the man's head, he said.

Harrison said he did not see any wounds on the body.

The coroner's office said the 25-year-old man died as a result of suicide.
