SC student charged after making Columbine comment

Posted: Updated:

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) - A 19-year-old college student has been arrested after classmates said he had made threats referencing the mass shooting in Columbine, Colo.

WYFF-TV reported Friday that King David Conyers had been charged with disturbing schools.

Police say a classmate at Spartanburg Community College heard Conyers say, "Y'all don't need to come to school tomorrow because I am going to Columbine this place."

The classmate also told authorities he mentioned an AK-47. Spartanburg County sheriff's Lt. Tony Ivey said Conyers does not own a firearm and didn't bring one to campus.

Court records listed no attorney for Conyers. Two student gunmen killed 13 people during an April 1999 attack at Columbine High School.
