CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Teams of celebrity players and coaches will fill face off at Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park next month to raise money to help fight childhood obesity.

The money raised at the 2013 Slim Down the South Celebrity Softball Game benefits Louie's Kids, a national nonprofit that helps treat childhood obesity, as well as promote a healthy and productive lifestyle.

"Really, it's just about promoting community wellness and programs like ours and the mayor's 'Lighten Up Charleston' program and the MUSC Wellness Program [and] the Healthy Charleston Challenge," said Louis Yuhasz, founder of Louie's Kids. "All the options health and wellness-wise that are available to our families will be represented that day at the Joe with a couple of live bands and a lot of great things for kids."

Celebrities who have signed up for the event include Bill Murray, Hootie & the Blowfish's Mark Bryan and Dean Felber, actor Terry Serpico, actress Paula Trickey and retired Major League Baseball player Kevin Elster.

Dean Stephens, Victoria Hansen, Tessa Spencer, Jon Bruce and Tom Crawford have also signed up to play.

The event will take place Saturday, Nov. 9. Gates open at 12 p.m. and the game begins at 2:05 p.m.
