iPhone tracking leads to arrest of 3 in downtown Charleston robbery

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Three people were arrested shortly after police say they robbed a man on Broad Street in downtown Charleston because they tracked them with the Find My iPhone software.

According to a police report, 18-year-old Samuel Taylor, 21-year-old Michelle Sims and 21-year-old Raheem Bailey approached the man and demanded money. One of the three assailants had a gun, police said.

The victim said he had seen the three people before at the convenience store on State Street.

Police say Taylor, Sims and Bailey made off with the man's iPhone, wallet, a pack of cigarettes and $30 in cash. The man helped police track the phone with the Find My iPhone app, which found the trio heading into North Charleston on Interstate 26.

With the help of North Charleston police, the three people were arrested and charged with armed robbery.

Sims was also charged with financial card transaction fraud. Taylor and Bailey were charged with unlawful possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.

Court dates have not been set for the three suspects.
