NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A North Charleston man was charged with murder over the weekend after he allegedly stabbed a man in the chest at a home near Burns Elementary School.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, 49-year-old Robert Prince was charged with murder.

Officials said officers responded to 3737 Dorchester Road and found Joseph Brown, 49, of North Charleston. Witness told officers the Brown and another man were fighting before Brown was stabbed, officials said.

According to a police report, Prince was found in the home where Brown was stabbed with a red substance on his shirt that he claimed was Kool-Aid. He took the shirt off and slid it under the couch he was sitting on while police searched the home, the report states.

Prince had a cut to the back of his head that required medical attention so he was taken to Medical University Hospital and then transferred to detectives, according to the report.

The Charleston County Coroner said Brown died from stab wounds.
