Nearly two dozen people have urged an Oklahoma judge to impose the maximum sentence for a Bartlesville teenager convicted of plotting an attack at the high school.

Nineteen-year-old Sammie Eaglebear Chavez was convicted in September of planning to cause bodily harm at the high school. Authorities accuse Chavez of planning a mass shooting and bombing at the high school, though no such attack occurred.

According to court documents obtained by KTUL, a presentence investigation report includes statements from teachers, administrators and parents who urged the maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.

The jury recommended a 2 ½ year prison term for Chavez. Chavez testified in his own defense and said he was joking about an attack.

Sentencing is set for Nov. 12.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
