Bracket breakdown for Class 3A football playoffs

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Everything in the 2013 high school football season now comes down to filling in blank lines on a bracket.

Last Friday night, teams in Class 1A, 2A, 3A and SCISA kicked off their playoff schedules while 4A schools will begin their playoff runs this week. Here is how the teams are paired in Class 3A for the second week.

3A Upper state games:

Westwood (7-4) heads to Greer after taking down Woodruff 38-10. Greer (9-2) advanced on a 34-30 win over Emerald.

Clinton will head to Daniel after advancing past Flora in a 55-35 win. Daniel picked off Pickens in the first round to advance. Daniel entered the playoffs at 11-0 while Clinton ended their year at 5-6.

Chapman's 28-18 win over Chapin Friday put them into a matchup against Wren, who pulled out a 70-61 win over Greenville to start their playoff run. Both teams came into the playoffs with 8-3 records

And in the final game of the Upper state division puts Broome (8-3) at home against Belton-Honea Path (10-1). Last week, Broome advanced with a 30-17 win over Seneca and BHP moved on with a 20-14 win over Blue Ridge.

3A Lower state games:

In the Lower state matchups, Hartsville heads to Socastee. The undefeated Socastee Braves moved on after beating Hilton Head last week 31-6. Hartsville (10-1) shut out Midland Valley last week.

The 11-0 Hanahan Hawks will play host to the 9-2 Marlboro County Bulldogs. The Hawks have four shutouts on the year and have kept their opponents out of the end zone effectively all year while averaging nearly 44 points per game. When the Bulldogs win, they win big, including 50-7 over Cheraw, 46-0 over Lakewood and 39-0 over Dalington. But when they are in close games, they seem to let it slip. Last week, they beat Swansea, 42-14.

Myrtle Beach blanked Berkeley last week, 35-0 to move into Friday's matchup against Crestwood. Crestwood outlasted Brookland-Cayce, 34-20. Crestwood finished their season at 9-2 with wins over 4A Sumter, and winning 5 of their last six games. Myrtle Beach finished at 7-4 and have won 5 of their last six games.

In the final matchup, North Myrtle Beach (9-2) heads to Little River, S.C., to take on Strom Thurmond (10-1). North Myrtle Beach beat Orangeburg-Wilkinson 52-35 last week to move into the second round. Strom Thurmond beat Darlington, 35-6.

Here is how the teams are paired in Class 2A for the second week.
