Charleston police officer hit by car in West Ashley

WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Charleston police officer had minor injuries after being hit by a car in West Ashley on Monday night.

According to department officials, the incident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Castlewood and Savage roads.

Officials said the officer only had minor injuries and was taken to Medical University Hospital.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.

Charleston police did not say what led to the officer being hit by the car.
