Local officials break ground on new park

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Local officials are celebrating the groundbreaking for a new five-acre park downtown.

Mayor Joe Riley and Charleston City Council members will be at the site of the future Gadsenboro Park Wednesday morning.

It's located at the center of the block formed by Calhoun, Concord, Laurens and Washington Streets and features a big lawn for sports.

There's also outdoor rooms along the perimeter for things like bocce ball or chess tables.
