SC Advocates for Epilepsy in Volunteer 4 Phonebank

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- One out of every 26 people in the United States will be diagnosed with epilepsy.

South Carolina Advocates for Epilepsy, or SAFE, is the only epilepsy organization in the state.

November is Epilepsy Awareness Month and the group is working to raise awareness about the neurological condition.

The organization provides support for patients, family members and caregivers. It also provides first-aid training for all employers, churches, daycare centers, civic organizations and sports teams.

On Nov. 16, the Stingrays will host 'Hockey Heroes for Epilepsy.' The team will wear awareness jerseys, which will be auctioned off after the game.

For more information about SAFE, you can visit the organization's website here.
