Beaufort master plan finally goes to city council

Posted: Updated:

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - After months of work and dozens of meetings, a master plan that will help map development in Beaufort for the next century is finally going to city council.

The Beaufort Gazette reports that the Beaufort-Port Royal Metropolitan Planning Commission voted Monday to send the plan to the council. The commission approved the plan on a 4-1 vote.

The document provides a blueprint for development of vacant and important properties as well as road and transportation needs during the next 100 years.

It also deals with such things as water access, parks and areas targeted for economic development.
