Co-defendants in Marley Lion case due in court

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – The family of Marley Lion will have another day of justice on Wednesday in the murder of the 17-year-old Academic Magnet graduate.

On June 16, 2012, investigators say Marley Lion was parked outside of Famous Joe's Bar and Grill on Savannah Highway in West Ashley. Officials say Lion was sleeping in the back seat of his car when Ryan Deleston fatally shot Lion in a failed robbery attempt.

Deleston was convicted of the shooting and sentenced to life in prison without parole in October.

The Marley Lion case continues Wednesday in the sentencing of Bryan Rivers and Julius Brown. The two men have been named co-defendants in the Marley Lion murder case.

Rivers and Brown accepted plea deals in October and testified against convicted shooter Ryan Deleston.

Both Rivers and Brown have admitted to voluntary manslaughter and attempted armed robbery charges.

The sentencing hearing for Rivers and Brown is set to begin at 2:30 p.m. at the Charleston County courthouse.
