NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One man was shot to death on Nov. 20 inside a home on Tedder Street in North Charleston, according to officials. Now officials have filed charges against a man in the case.

A spokesperson for the Charleston County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a reported home invasion turned homicide just before 9:30 p.m. The coroner has identified the victim as 25-year-old Dominique Stephen Ladson, saying he died as a result of a single gunshot wound.

Another person was in the house but was not injured, according to officials.

Police say Franklin Williams, of Grove Street in downtown Charleston, was charged with obstruction of justice in the murder investigation.

Williams is being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center. A bond hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday.

According to the incident report, the other man in the home told deputies that two armed men came into the house and shot Ladson. The report also revealed that children were also in the home when Ladson was shot.

Neighbors say this incident shows how unsafe their neighborhood can be.

"It's scary, you can't sleep because you never know," said Devon Parker. "The violence around here is out of control."

Parker has lived in the neighborhood for four years and says Wednesday night's shooting is nothing new.

"It makes you feel unsafe out here," he said. "The police need to step up the patrols. They know what's going on. They need to step it up."

Other neighbors told ABC News 4 that there have been several shootings in the area.

Using the North CHarleston Police Department's online crime search, in November alone there have been eight reported burglaries, 13 reports of stolen vehicles or thefts from cars, and one incident of reported rape.

Since the start of the year, a look at crimes in the area shows a much more violent history. Within a three mile radius of the shooting on Tedder Street, there were three reported murders, 13 sexual assaults, almost 40 robberies and 88 assaults, many involving either guns or knives.
