GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) -- Goose Creek police responded to reports of a woman who barricaded herself in a home on Amy Drive.

Officials on scene tell ABC News 4 that the woman was taken into custody after her doctor came to the scene and talked her out.

We're also told the woman is a mental patient and that she had weapons inside the home. Officials say it was a medical incident that turned into a SWAT situation.

According to a report from the GCPD, officers responded around 4 a.m. at the request of Goose Creek Fire Dept. EMS who had been called to treat a woman who was reportedly hallucinating.

EMS technicians met with the woman who told them she had a gun so they left the home. The woman's adult daughter confirmed to police that there were several guns in the house.

After speaking with the woman on the phone and making no progress, SWAT was called out and the road closed. The GCPD duty supervisor called the woman's doctor who spoke with her while driving to her home and was able to convince her to surrender herself to protective custody.

The scene cleared quickly and Amy Rd. opened back up to traffic. SWAT confiscated the weapons and no one was injured.

A spokesperson with the  Berkeley County School District said staff members were on hand at nearby Boulder Bluff to get students inside as quickly as possible. No lockdown was ever put in place.

A spokesman for the GCPD says "no charges or further law enforcement action is anticipated."
