Tulsa Officials to Address Winter Preparations

Posted: Updated:

City leaders are slated to discuss Tulsa's preparations Friday afternoon for the upcoming weather season.

Mayor Dewey Bartlett, representatives from the National Weather Service and Tulsa Area Emergency Management Agency will address the resources the city has available this season. The event will take place at the Tulsa Police Academy.

According to a report from the Associated Press, Bartlett will host several city departments and agencies afterward to discuss response plans as a group - which city leaders hope will help improve inter-department cooperation in case of a severe weather event.

The city was socked with two winter storms in 2011 - one of them a blizzard that buried Tulsa in a single-day record 14 inches of snow. Leaders were criticized for not adequately responding to the storm.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
