COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- The driver of a pick up truck is dead after the truck ran off the road and struck a ditch Saturday, said officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

Officials said a Hendersonville man was traveling south on Green Pond Highway, SC-303 at about 1:15 p.m. when his Chevy left the roadway just south of Ritter Road.

The truck struck the northbound ditch bank twice before stopping. Firefighters found the driver across the front seats without any signs of life.

The driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

The Coroner's Office was notified and responded to the scene.

The man was taken to MUSC for an autopsy to determine if any medical conditions could have contributed to the accident.

The victim's name has not been released.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is still investigating.
