SHAW AIR FORCE BASE, S.C. (AP) - An Army unit connected with the South Carolina-based U.S. Army Central is getting a new commander.

The 4th Battlefield Coordination Detachment on Wednesday bids farewell to Col. Benjamin M. Matthews and welcomes Col. Robert Agans as its new commander.

The change of command ceremony is being hosted by Lt. Gen. James L. Terry at 10 a.m. at Patton Hall's Lucky Park.

The detachment is a subordinate command of U.S. Army Central, which is based at Shaw Air Force Base near Sumter. It acts as a liaison between the Air Force and U.S. Army Central, which supports U.S. Army units in 20 countries spanning from Egypt to Afghanistan.
