MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Mount Pleasant police arrested a 17-year-old in connection to series of car break-ins after the boy's father called police.

According to a police report, officers were sent to the Parapet Court home after 17-year-old Alexander Halvarssen's father called asking police for help. He reportedly said he thought his some was on drugs and had stolen something.

When officers arrived, they found Halvarssen, extremely upset, sitting in a corner. He told officers not to worry about what was bothering him, assuring them that he had only been drinking and not taking drugs.

Halvarssen's father produced two bags of what he believed to be stolen items that included business cards, a Dell laptop, a key ring, a Marine Band harmonica, and an assortment of other items.

After talking to Halvarssen for several minutes, the teen reportedly calmed down and admitted that he had been stealing items from cars in the Hibben section of Belle Hall.

Halvarssen was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and theft from a motor vehicle.
