WASHINGTON, Dec. 11, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- ASAE held its 2013 CEO/CIO Pre-Conference Program and Technology Conference & Expo, December 3-5, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center with 1,233 total participants, which is the second highest attended conference in its eight year history. Participants took part in more than 40 high-level practical education sessions within five pathways, a sold-out Expo Hall, and the Technology Town Hall Meeting.
Here's the final attendance breakdown of this year's conference: Execs (Assn Execs, Consultants, CEO/CIO Pre-Conference Program) 675, Exhibitors (Exhibiting Booth Staff, Artisans) 404, and Other (Industry Partners, Press, Speakers, Staff, and Vendors) 154. The ratio of buyers and sellers at this year's meeting was 63 percent buyers (association staff) to 37 percent sellers (industry partners), which is a strong ratio.
"This year we tried a new learning format for attendees that focused on five major trends and strategies impacting associations and the technology sector," said ASAE President & CEO John H. Graham IV, CAE. "The new format really resonated with our audience because it gave them the opportunity to delve into a smaller number of topics, engage in thoughtful discussions, and take back strategies and tactics they can implement into their organizations."
On December 3, more than 100 CEOs' and CIOs' participated in the CEO/CIO Pre-Conference Program called, "Technology Perspectives for the Association C-Suite." Dan Israel, heads the government marketing team for Google Enterprise; Marty Rodgers, managing director of human services program at Accenture; and Gary Shapiro, president & CEO, Consumer Electronics Association, shared future trends in technology and how it will impact associations. Each speaker emphasized the importance of trying new things and not being afraid to fail.
During the two-day Technology Conference & Expo, December 4-5, seven thought leaders kicked-off the five pathways including:
- CEO Pathway: John Mancini, president and CEO, Association for Information and Image Management International
- CIO Pathway: Dion Hinchcliffe, chief strategy officer, Dachis Group
- Content Pathway: Kristina Halverson, owner, Brain Traffic and Karen McGrane, founder, Bond Art & Science
- Mobile Pathway: Herbert Lindo, director of mobility applications consulting, AT&T Mobility
- Technology Pathway: David Coriale, MBA, president, DelCor Technology Solutions
Each pathway focused on how to manage current trends, and understand the different tools, strategies and roles required to serve the business needs of associations.
