NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The intersection of Rivers Avenue and Remount Road was shut down for several hours Thursday while crews clean up an overturned tractor-trailer.

The roadway reopened around 1:30 p.m., police said.

According to North Charleston police, the truck overturned and spilled its load across the roadway. Official said the load is non-hazardous.

Officials with the Department of Health and Environmental Control were at the scene cleaning the area, police said, but the clean-up was expected to take several hours.

Traffic in the area was being routed around the intersection.
