Stall principal, West Ashley assistant named best in state

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) – Stall High School's principal has been named the 2014 South Carolina High School Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators.

Kim Wilson was named the principal of the year, and Andre Dukes, the assistant principal at West Ashley High School, was named the 2014 South Carolina High School Assistant Principal of the Year.

According to Wilson's Twitter page, he's in his 37th year as an educator, and has been at Stall since 2009-20. He has degrees from Glenville State College, Marshall University, and The Citadel.

The other finalist for high school principal of the year was Mr. Martin "Dee" Christopher from Fort Mill High in York District 4.

"We are very pleased to announce Kim Wilson as the SCASA High School Principal of the Year," said Molly Spearman, Executive Director of the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. "He is the perfect role model of an outstanding school principal and community leader. He has dedicated his life to both his students and the families in his community."

"Kim Wilson is a great principal, leader and human being. The history of R.B. Stall High School's improvement will be linked to his leadership," said Superintendent Nancy McGinley of Charleston County School District.

The finalists for the high school assistant principal of the year award included Mrs. Jennifer McNair from White Knoll High School in Lexington School District 1 and Mrs. Martha Messick from South Aiken High School in Aiken County Public Schools.
