NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- One person is in custody after a shooting Sunday afternoon, said officials with the North Charleston Police Department.

Officials said officers responded to the 3200 block of Appleton Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. regarding a victim with a gunshot wound.

Two teenagers were involved in an altercation when the suspect pulled out a handgun and shot the victim in the right arm, officials said.

The 14-year-old victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, officials said.

According to a NCPD incident report, the suspect is a 13-year-old boy and his identity is being withheld.

The victim told police he had gotten into an argument with the suspect which led to the shooting.

A witness told police the boys were arguing about "rival gangs" saying the victim is a member of the "Young Gunnas" and the suspect is with the "Young Goons."

According to the report, the witness said he thought the boys were going to fight, but he heard the suspect say "There isn't going to be a fight," before pulling out a semi-automatic .22 pistol and shooting the victim.
