MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- If you've always wanted to take the family out to see the Yorktown, but were afraid of what it would do to your wallet, now's your chance!

While admission is usually $18 a person, for the weekend of January 4th, visitors can just pay what they can to visit the Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum.

You get a lot of bang for whatever amount of bucks you decide to spend. You can explore three of the nation's most historic vessels, 28 aircraft, the Medal of Honor Museum, Vietnam Naval Support Base and more.

Parking is also part of the deal. Instead of $5 a car, what you pay for parking is free.

"We recognize that times are tough for many Americans – especially after the holiday season," said Patriots Point Executive Director Mac Burdette. "Some families may not be able to afford to pay anything while others may have a limited amount they can dedicate to this purpose.  That's fine with us. ‘Pay What You Can' Weekend is our way to provide everyone with an opportunity to visit our museum regardless of their financial situation," he said.

Military service members in uniform and children under the age of 6 are free as usual.

The deal lasts from Saturday Jan. 4th through Sunday January 5th. Normal hours of operation are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
