Woman in critical condition after shooting, police say

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A woman was rushed to Medical University Hospital Monday night  after being found shot along on a North Charleston sidewalk.

A spokesperson for the North Charleston Police Department says officers responded to 1815 Grayson Street in regard to someone being shot.

According to a NCPD incident report, officers found a 56-year-old black woman lying on the sidewalk. She was suffering from a gunshot wound to her head and had injuries to her face and forehead.

Witnesses told police they heard shots and saw a maroon/burgundy Crown Victoria with several black men inside leaving the area. The incident remains under investigation. Police have not released details about a possible motive.
