Posted: Updated:

LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A man was charged with attempted murder after Charleston County deputies say he hit a man with an SUV and broke his hip outside a Ladson restaurant.

According to an affidavit, Chang Lin was involved in an altercation with another man outside the Mr. Hibachi on Highway 78. The fight escalated and Lin hit the other man with his Toyota SUV, fracturing his hip, deputies said.

Deputies say before the incident, the victim was arguing on his cellphone inside the restaurant around 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 10 and was told to leave.

When the man went outside, deputies sang Lin got into his SUV and ran into the man, breaking his hip and causing other injuries. According to deputies, Lin was not the man on the phone with the victim.

At a bond hearing Friday evening, Lin's bond was set at $500,000.
