SLED called to scene of abandoned home fire in Colleton Co.

Posted: Updated:

COLLETON COUNTY, S.C. (WCIV) -- Crews worked a fire at an abandoned home on Poplar Street Monday night, making it the third fire to start in the area in the last four days, said officials with the Colleton County Fire and Rescue.

Officials said the fire started at about 9 p.m. at 205 Poplar Street.

Officials said SLED has been called to the scene.

SLED's Arson Unit is helping investigate another fire on Poplar Street that broke out at a rental home on Friday.

Officials said the home was not occupied at the time.

While crews were working that fire, another fire broke out about one block away on Edgewood Street, officials said.

The Arson Unit is also helping investigate that fire.

Officials said it is too early to tell if Monday's fire is related to the ones that happened on Friday.
