MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) - One of two women reported missing last month in Horry County is safe, and searchers are heading out this weekend looking for the second.
Horry County Police say that they got a call late Thursday from Jamie Lynn Cross. The Murrells Inlet woman had last been seen on Dec. 23 and was reported missing two days later, on Christmas Day.
Meanwhile, family members and volunteers are searching Friday and through the weekend for 20-year-old Heather Elvis.
She was last heard from around 3 a.m. on Dec. 18, after she went on a date. Her cellphone gave out its last signal around that time, and her car was found abandoned at a boat landing the next day.
There's a $20,000 reward for information about the woman's whereabouts.
