CCSO: Suspect pays $2 for Pepsi, grabs cash from register

JOHNS ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) -- Charleston County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a robbery that happened early Monday morning on Johns Island.

According to an incident report, deputies responded to the Kangaroo Express on Main Road just after 4 a.m.

The cashier told investigators that the suspect came up to the counter as if he were going to buy a bottle of Pepsi but reached into the register drawer as the cashier was going for the suspect's change. The cashier said suspect grabbed an unknown amount of money and left.

Monday afternoon, Charleston police arrested and charged 36-year-old Bill Boyd Booker of North Charleston with strong armed robbery for the incident.

According to the detention center, Booker also faces two charges of armed robbery from Mt. Pleasant police for a separate incident.
