Charleston man accused of threatening witness

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Charleston man was arrested Monday night on gun charges and intimidating a witness a day earlier.

According to Charleston police, 25-year-old Adrian Collins, of America Street, was charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun and intimidating a witness.

Police say officers responded to a Drake Street home late Sunday night after shots were reportedly fired into the home. Several people were in the home at the time, but no one was injured, police said.

According to police, there was information to suggest that the shooting was done to intimidate a man who was set to testify against Tyrel Collins in the ongoing Solomon Chisolm trial. Tyrel Collins, Adrian Collins' brother, was charged with murder in the case.

Police have surveillance video that puts Adrian Collins near Drake Street at the time of the shooting, a report states.

On Monday, officers went to Hanover and Columbus streets in reference to a disturbance where they found Adrian Collins. He ran, police say, but was caught on Nassau Street with a handgun.

The gun matched the ballistics of the weapon used in Sunday's shooting, police said.
