NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- North Charleston firefighters responded to two calls regarding structure fires early Wednesday morning.
According to a NCFD spokesperson, the first came in at 5:30 a.m. for a fire at the Alsco dry cleaning business on Chateau Ave.
Bianca Bourbeau with the NCFD said the fire was contained to the dryer and one person was checked out by Charleston County EMS for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters also responded just after 6:30 a.m. to a home on Dalton Street.
Bourbeau said "a significant amount of smoke" was seen coming from a small trailer.
Both residents of the home escaped the fire which was contained to one room.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the family is being assisted by the American Red Cross.
The Red Cross is also helping with three house fires that happened on Tuesday.
Officials said a home on Rutledge Road in McClellanville was destroyed and two Summerville homes were also damaged by flames.
The Red Cross is helping those three families, including six kids, by providing lodging, food and comfort kits.
No word yet what started those fires.
