COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Workers at the South Carolina Education Department have been shivering as the heat went out at the Rutledge Building in Columbia.
The power went out shortly after Christmas in the 12-story building near the Statehouse.
State officials have brought in large, portable space heaters for each floor on the building. Employees are being allowed to bring in personal heaters.
The Budget and Control Board says it could take several weeks for the part needed to fix the system to arrive.
The Education Department has nearly half of its 840 employees working in the building.
