Save three lives by giving blood Thursday

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- They are always there when you need them most, so why not be there for the Red Cross when they need a little help?

On Thursday, donation centers will be set up at both the Citadel and Northwoods malls for the Score One 4 Life Blood Drive.  The Drive is sponsored by ABC News 4, The Bridge 105.5 team and the South Carolina Stingrays.

Every one who donates will be given a free Red Cross T-shirt and two free tickets to see a Stingrays hockey game.  Plus, one lucky donor will win an actual Stingrays jersey and will get to drop the puck at a game.

The blood drive will run until 8 p.m. To schedule an appointment you can call 1-800-RED CROSS.

Approximately 500 donations are needed each week to keep up with the demand of 54 hospitals in our region.  By giving blood each person can save about three lives.

Donations can be safely given every eight weeks.
