BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) - Beaufort County's coroner is moving into a new building.
The county used $850,000 from bond sales to renovate the old Disabilities and Special Needs Building into a new 6,300-square foot office scheduled to open Friday.
There will be a morgue, offices and a place where the coroner and assistant coroners can privately talk with grieving families.
The county plans a low-key opening Friday with a bigger ceremony taking place in a few months.
