HUGER, S.C. (WCIV) -- Cainhoy Elementary and Middle School in Berkeley County got a high tech gift from a local steel producer.

Nucor Steel Berkeley delivered 60 new Dell computers Wednesday morning to update the school's computer labs. The towerless machines will  be split between two classrooms.

"The administrators and the teachers here do a great job," said Nucor Vice President and General Manager Giff Daughtridge. "Everybody wants to give back and find a way to really make an impact."

The gift was a joint effort of Nucor and the Daniel Island Community Fund.

"Our students are very excited to have these here," said Cainhoy Principal John Spagnolia. "We've been needing them. The ones we have now are about 7 to 9 years old so we're very very fortunate and we appreciate everything that Daniel Island Community Fund and Nucor have done for us to get these taken care of."

With 30 computers in each lab, every student will be able to have access to a computer during their lessons.

"It's exciting to give access to computers and the Internet," said Daughtridge. "We're a world class organization, very high tech, and we need kids to get an education like this so we're excited."
