GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - The Bassmaster Classic is coming to South Carolina's Upstate in 2015.
The group announced Thursday that its world championship event would be staged in Greenville and Lake Hartwell next year from Feb. 20-22. The tournament will feature anglers who qualified for the event through competitions this year.
Competitors will leave from a new launch facility built near Anderson and then bring their catches for weigh-ins at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.
South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley attended Thursday's announcement.
The Bassmaster Classic was last at Lake Hartwell in February 2008. That tournament was won by Alton Jones of Texas,
Lake Hartwell borders Georgia and South Carolina and comprises nearly 56,000 acres of water with a shoreline of 962 miles.
