Houston's staff is comprised of five assistants who came with him from Lenoir-Rhyne – Brent Thompson (offensive coordinator/quarterback/B-backs), Blake Harrell (special teams coordinator/inside linebackers), Lou Conte (slot backs), Ron Boyd (offensive line) and Roy Tesh (defensive line).

Former Citadel cornerback and assistant coach Maurice Drayton (defensive coordinator/cornerbacks), former South Carolina State defense backs coach Joel Taylor (safeties/pass defense coordinator) and former East Carolina graduate assistant Tripp Weaver (outside linebackers) are also joining the staff.
