BEAUFORT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Beaufort County deputies arrested a man who they say on Saturday night dropped a gunshot wound victim at a hospital and drove away. The victim died from his wounds.
According to deputies, Quinton Delaney Jr. was charged with unlawful carrying of a handgun, unlawful possession of a handgun with an obliterated serial number, and speeding. Additional charges are being considered, officials said.
Deputies say Delaney left 27-year-old Tyrice Washington at Beaufort Memorial Hospital and drove away. Deputies later found Delaney on Highway 21 near the Highway 170 interchange.
Deputies were able to link Delaney to Washington and the hospital, they said, and found a handgun sitting on the floorboard of the SUV he was driving.
However, deputies said they have not determined what role Delaney played in the shooting or where it happened.
