Guy Harvey exhibit opens at aquarium

Posted: Updated:

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Dr. Guy Harvey's art collection, Canvases for Conservation, opened Friday at the South Carolina Aquarium in downtown Charleston.

The aquarium is the first in the country to feature Harvey's works.

The artwork will feature wildlife native to South Carolina, including the bald eagle, rainbow trout, alligator, redfish, marlin, and sharks.

"These amazing works of art will inspire our guests to see the natural world in a profoundly new way," remarked Kevin Mills, Aquarium president and CEO.  "Together, the Aquarium, Guy Harvey and the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation share the belief that we can protect the natural world through a concerted call to action."

Each of the pieces will be available for purchase with proceeds directly supporting conservation and education programs at the South Carolina Aquarium and research by the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.

"We are thrilled to be able to work with the South Carolina Aquarium to host this special Exhibit", stated Steve Stock, president of Guy Harvey Inc. and the Ocean Foundation. "The opportunity to educate the Aquarium's visitors and hopefully to sell some artwork that will benefit both the Aquarium and our Foundation makes this exhibition even more special."

There will also be Guy Harvey merchandise in the aquarium gift shop.
