MT. PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Summerville High School student was arrested Tuesday for a video he posted on Vine, Facebook and Instagram, police said.

According to a Mt. Pleasant Police report, officials with the Charleston Animal Society brought a video to attention featuring a young black male standing in a roadway on Mt. Pleasant. The report says the video shows the teen "luring a black and white cat to his reach and throwing the cat approximately thirty feet away from his location, where the cat hit the ground."

The report says the video shows the same teen doing the same thing with a brown and white cat.

The video shows the Instagram profile the video was taken from police said and the suspect was identified as 18-year-old Deonta M. Weaver.

On Jan. 8, officers went to Weaver's school to ask him about the video. Police said Weaver admitted to being in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood with a family member. The report says Weaver also admitted to throwing the cats and posting the video to Instagram, Facebook and Vine.

Weaver told police his mother warned him that he could get in trouble for the videos so he took them down that same day.

Officers told Weaver he faced a municipal charge and an arrest warrant was issued.

On Jan. 21, Weaver turned himself in voluntarily. He was given a $2,130 bond Tuesday afternoon.
