CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The March of Dimes has rescheduled their sign up event for their March for Babies fundraising campaign.

Inclement weather delayed the first scheduled kickoff in January but now you can sign up on February 11 at Cannon Park.

There will be a kickoff event at noon where participants can meet the 2014 Ambassador Family and pick up their fundraising packets.

"For more than 75 years the March of Dimes has been touching the lives of babies and families," said March for Babies Chairman and East Cooper CEO Jason Alexander. "We invite our community to join March for Babies and raise money to help more families know the joy of a healthy baby!"

This year's March for Babies is being held on April 26 at Cannon Park. The campaign raises money for research to increase access to prenatal care, prevent premature birth and prevent birth defects.

According to the March of Dimes, the Palmetto State has one of the highest premature birth rates in the country.

To register for the Kick off, contact Meredith Repik or Mary Whiteside at 843-571-1776 or by email at mrepik@marchofdimes.com or mwhiteside@marchofdimes.com.
