Two girls find 'snow much fun' in winter wonderland

Posted: Updated:

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) – For some, the winter weather has been snow fun at all, but for others it's been a winter blast.

The winter blast, Snowmageddon, Snowpocalypse, or whatever name you might call it, has meant closed bridges and businesses, and changing plans. But what is a pain for some is a joy for others.

That means while school is out, fun is in.

"School is canceled! We want to be here because if we were at school, we'd miss all this fun winter wonderland," said 7-year-old Brenna Stone.

"We're from Pennsylvania so we're used to it, but it's the novelty of seeing the bridge with no people on it, seeing other people out and around," said Brenna's mom, Sherri Sparrow.

It may be a novelty, but the sight is certainly a rarity, but for the few brave souls braving the cold, memories have been made and experiences have been had, including Comet, who saw snow for the first time.

Comet was not a fan.

"Anytime we have snow here, we're going to call it the winter wonderland," said Stone.

The winter weather in the Lowcountry is anything but typical, but it was most definitely memorable for two girls with an icy playground to themselves – even if there wasn't enough snow to build a snowman.

A group of students – kids at heart, for sure – embodied the Stone girls' sentiments across the Ravenel Bridge in Marion Square.

A couple hundred people found the invite on Facebook and ran to the center of the city Wednesday afternoon to throw snowballs at each other.
